About us…
Kristi Townsend, MA, LPC
Outpatient Therapist, Owner
Hi, I’m Kristi. I began my career as an accountant and, through my own healing journey in therapy, I decided that I wanted to help people heal just as I had been helped. I received my Masters in Counseling from Lindenwood University in 2016 and am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri.
Most of my professional career in counseling has been served with a local mental health agency, as well as a brief prior experience in private practice. The mental health agency has provided me with a lot of training and plethora of experience with individuals coping with anxiety, depression, substance use, dissociation, psychosis, and trauma to name a few. I am trained in EMDR therapy and CBT therapy. I also enjoy working with couples, helping them to understand the dynamics of their relationship, and to build better coping and communication skills to aid in overall healing.
When I’m not in the therapy office, I find myself hanging out with my son and partner, reading a good book, watching a movie or planning my next travel adventure.
Now accepting Self-Pay, Aetna, United Health Care and Ambetter.

Carrie Estes, MA, LPC
Outpatient Therapist / Owner
Hi, I’m Carrie — a therapist passionate about helping kids, teens, and families find connection and healing. With over a decade of experience and a strong background in trauma-focused, family-based work, I bring empathy, structure, and local insight to my practice. Whether you’re navigating parenting stress or your child is struggling emotionally, I’m here to help you move forward with confidence.
With over 10 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families, I am passionate about helping young people and their caregivers navigate challenges, heal from trauma, and strengthen their relationships. My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based practices that honor each family's unique dynamics and goals.
I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For the past 6 years, I’ve also integrated Structural Family Therapy and Barkley’s 10-Step Program for Defiant Children into my work with families and parents to support lasting relational change.
Over the past decade, I have supported children and families experiencing trauma, attachment disruptions, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum concerns, and complex parent-child stressors. I also have extensive experience facilitating therapeutic groups for both youth and caregivers.
Having lived and worked in this community for over 30 years, I bring a deep understanding of the local context, strengths, and needs. I believe in walking alongside families as they learn new skills, process difficult emotions, and reconnect with hope and resilience.
Lisa Adams, MA, LPC
Outpatient Therapist
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in practice for more than a decade. I am skilled with clients facing mental health challenges such as: depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, low self-esteem, trauma-single incident and complex PTSD, life transitions, family of origin/attachment issues, childhood abuse/neglect, addictions/compulsions, communication challenges and stress.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in practice for more than a decade.
I use a variety of methods in our sessions: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to help you challenge distorted thinking, and Motivational Interviewing to help you find your inner reasons and willingness for change. I teach my clients to use mindfulness skills for self-awareness and self-soothing. I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which works with the body and the mind to access and process traumatic memories, relieving distress and bringing healing.
I always wanted to be a therapist but started my career as a kindergarten/first grade teacher. I taught for seven years, stayed home with my kids and then went back to grad school. An internship was required to graduate, so I found myself at a psychiatric hospital working with severely mentally ill and chemically dependent patients. It was gratifying to see people get well through therapy and medication and to get to know them in the groups I led. I graduated, and two days later my younger brother, who had a history of mental health challenges, died by suicide, following a relapse with alcohol. This traumatic experience solidified my desire to help people find hope and healing.
Therapy is a form of self-care. Developing a working relationship with a counselor should be healing and empowering. I encourage clients to practically find ways to better cope with life’s challenges by talking, processing and embracing change. I believe in a collaborative approach to help my clients reach their goals. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion in a warm, non-judgmental, supportive space. I invite you to contact me to discuss your needs and to schedule a time to get started. I look forward to working with you!
